The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Archil Talakvadze, hosted the Speaker of the Parliament of Swiss Confederation, Marina Carobbio Guscetti and the members of the official delegation. After the meeting, the Speakers of the two countries held a briefing.

During the joint briefing, Archil Talakvadze thanked his colleagues for the important role that Switzerland plays in Russian-Georgian relations.

"We talked about the cooperation between Georgia and Switzerland: in the political, economic, cultural spheres and the relations that exist between our countries. Georgia is increasingly becoming a place where Swiss citizens choose to spend their free time with their families. Georgia is also becoming a place where Swiss businessmen and investors choose to invest, indicating that our trust between our countries and our citizens is growing and we have a free trade agreement with Switzerland that also fosters economic relations and economic cooperation. I want to thank the Speaker for supporting Georgia's territorial integrity, for the important mission Switzerland is pursuing to resolve the problem between Georgia and Russia when it comes to the illegal occupation of our country's territories. When Georgia strengthens democracy, strengthens its economy and receives even stronger support from its partners, it will be possible to restore our territorial integrity peacefully in the future,” said Talakvadze.

According to the speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, he introduced the delegation of Swiss Confederation to the current major political processes and talked about the reforms the Parliament is currently working on.

“We are proud of the specific role we play in Georgia's relations with the Russian Federation,” said Marina Carobbio Guscetti

According to Marina Carobbio Guscetti, Switzerland supports Georgia's territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. The Swiss politician also said that the consolidation of Georgia's democracy would be supported in the future.

“Our excellent relationships are based on mutual benefits and cover many sectors. We are pleased to support Georgia's development and are proud of the specific role we play in Georgia's relations with the Russian Federation. I was very pleased that Georgia's democratic system became parliamentary democracy and that the electoral system will become fully proportional. We support your changes and hope that these changes will lead to the entry of different parties to Parliament. Switzerland will support the consolidation of Georgia's democracy, which means a strong parliament, an independent judiciary and the rule of law. Respect-based political dialogue is also important. Politics is the competition of ideas, not the confrontation of individuals. Switzerland supports the territorial integrity of Georgia within internationally recognized borders," said Marina Carobio Guseti.
